Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)

Since our inception in 1990, Hudson Technologies has focused efforts on the sustainable management of refrigerants. As a leading provider of refrigerant products and services to the HVACR industry, ESG is at the core to all we do.

If you use air conditioning or buy and store frozen food, you’ve likely used our product or services. While we all want our homes, offices, and schools to be comfortable and our food to stay fresh, it is also important to protect the environment and help drive the transition to more environmentally friendly refrigerants and equipment.

In addition to On Site R-Side services focused on HVAC system remediation return operating equipment to optimal design conditions thereby reducing energy consumption, Hudson is also one of the largest refrigerant reclaimers in the country. Reclamation is important for two reasons:

1. Venting refrigerants from a home central air conditioning system has the equivalent destructive environmental impact to operating a car for one year.
2. Reclaimed refrigerants have up to 70% lower emissions of newly manufacturer refrigerants as identified by RMI in their recent report found here.

The environmental benefits of using reclaimed refrigerants are immense and can quickly add up.

Why ESG?

Hudson is proud to play an important role in Lifecycle Refrigerant Management (LRM). We are committed to ensuring that each and every pound of refrigerant in service is recovered, reclaimed and reused, or safely destroyed. Our belief is that 1 lb. reclaimed is 1 lb. not made™, lowering the energy demand and carbon footprint of the world on a daily basis.

Why is Hudson disclosing ESG Information?

Hudson was founded to provide efficiency and sustainable services to other companies long before the “Green Revolution”. Over our 30-year history, we have recycled millions of pounds of refrigerant gas, as well as provided services to the HVAC industry that improve system energy efficiency, and ultimately reduce GHG emissions over time.

Hudson’s commitment to the environment doesn’t end with the goods and services we provide, we want to be the best corporate citizens that we can be. To do that, we as a company, need to understand what impact our company’s operations have on the environment, as well as what the best practices are for measuring our performance in the areas of Environmental, Social, and Governance.

What is Hudson doing for its ESG Journey?

We have started our ESG journey and we are learning what we know now and what we need to know in the future so that we can follow our philosophy of continual improvement. Hudson has taken the step of voluntarily submitting for an ESG score by participating in the S & P Global’ s Corporate Sustainability Assessment. The assessment is a 182 page questionnaire that covers a large amount of topics from Labor Practices, Human Rights, Risk Assessments, Emissions, Business Ethics, and Customer Relationship Management, just to mention a few. As a result of going through this assessment, we are able to understand the important metrics that we need to monitor going forward. This will allow us to improve our performance in key focus areas and look to reduce the amount of water we use, the amount of waste we generate, our emissions (Scope 1, 2 and 3) and how to improve our performance in areas like HR, Corporate Governance, and the Environment.

On behalf of the entire team at Hudson I invite you to learn more about our sustainability journey, and the positive impact we are having on the planet every day.
We look forward to, Reclaiming the Future Together
